2026 PROPERTY TAX: Reminders Mailed

2nd notices for overdue 2026 property taxes have gone out in the mail. Please be aware of the following Real Property Tax Laws:

RPTL section 920: NYS law provides that the tax receiver cannot waive penalties on real estate taxes after the due date for any reason.

RPTL section 922: A property owner is not relieved of the responsibility for payment of taxes or interest prescribed by law despite the failure to receive a notice of such taxes due.
– In addition, please be aware the Official United States Postmark is the date which will be used to determine if taxes were sent out on time. Postage meters and foreign postmarks are not acceptable.

The absolute last day to pay your taxes at the Town of Coeymans Clerk’s Office is March 31, 2026.
Any payments made after March 31, 2026 will need to be made directly to Albany County.
